What is Sonomotif, and who is it for?

In short, Sonomotif is an exclusive theme music licensing company.

We’re a team of world-class composer-producers from all around the world offering content creators of all sizes (from podcasts just starting out to major media companies) exclusive-use licenses for one-of-a-kind theme songs.

In other words, we cook up theme music for content creators who want their own theme song that is found nowhere else in the world, instantly: the result is a library of high-quality, never-been-licensed-before theme songs and complimenting audio assets (such as loops and audio transitions) that can be licensed for exclusive use within minutes.

Because we only offer exclusive licenses, once you purchase your theme set, it is no longer available for purchase by another client- ensuring that your theme music is exclusive to your content in order to demonstrate unique and professional branding to your audience.

Are there subscription or recurring fees?

The last thing we ALL need is another monthly bill. All Sonomotif Theme Sets are all yours after the one-time payment of the license fee you see at checkout.
Plain and simple. No hidden costs with your Theme Set. Now go make something beautiful with it- we’re rooting for you.

Do I have to pay royalties every time I use my theme song?

With the Online Use license (covering podcasts, YouTube channels, Twitch streamers, social media influencers and more- see details here), all of our theme sets are completely royalty-free. This means that once you pay the one-time license fee, you are free to use your own Theme Set as you wish without paying royalties to the respective artist.

If you are broadcasting on a major media platform and opt for the Broadcast/Major Media license, the distribution network or host platform (Netflix, for example) will be required to pay royalties to the creator of the particular theme set.

What is a Theme Set?

Because we offer more than just an exclusive theme song, we’ve coined the term “Theme Set” to describe the suite of audio assets that are included along with every main theme song that you might use for an introduction sequence.

Sonomotif Theme Sets include your main theme song with complimenting audio assets, and consist of the following:

INTRO: This is your main theme song. Short, sweet, & to the point so you can quickly establish your branding and dive into your content each time.

LOOPER: This is a version of your theme song that has a longer run time and will often have any prominent lead melodies removed in order to serve more as background music. The purpose of the looper version is to provide your content with on-brand, non-distracting background music that can be played during housekeeping announcements, intro segments, outro segments, and ad-reads. It reinforces your brand while being complementary to a voiceover.

STEMS: The individual, isolated instrument tracks from the Looper version. This gives your editor extra flexibility to add or remove certain elements within the looper version to help compliment your content. An example of a stem would be a WAV file of the guitar part heard in your looper version, but isolated from the other instruments. Perhaps you want to do your ad-reads over just the guitar riff to switch things up. Now you can!

STINGS: Our theme sets each include two separate stings- stings are short audio transitions in the style of your intro theme that can be used to transition between segments, establishing a distinct context switch for your audience that is professional and on-brand.

Who makes these pieces of music? Do you sell AI-generated music?

It’s sad that we even have to say it, but AI-generated art will only ever touch the “souls” of other robots. That’s why we NEVER use AI-generated “music”.

Call us old-fashioned: 100% of our Theme Sets are produced by world-class composers who eat real food and have families and cry every time they watch “Toy Story”.

Every theme we license supports the composer who created it- in fact, bringing new economic opportunities to our composer community around the world is a big part of our mission after serving our customers a streamlined, above-and-beyond experience with us.

Real art by humans, for humans.

Do I need to credit the composer or Sonomotif every time I use their music in my content?

You paid for the license fair-and-square, so you certainly don’t HAVE to.

However, we’d be over the moon if you made mention of the talented composer who created your piece (as seen in the file details of your downloaded Theme Set) and gave a shout-out to Sonomotif if you had a positive experience with us. Tag us on socials @sonomotif so we can share your content with our audience too.

We’d love you forever.

I’m from a podcast or media network and will require multiple theme sets. Do you offer bulk discounts?

Hey there! Absolutely- we aim to create long-lasting partnerships with networks creating multiple shows under one roof in order to provide them with a one-stop shop for all theme music as required. Reach out to support@sonomotif.com and we’ll work something out immediately!

I have a unique situation and don’t know which license I need for my content- Online Use or Broadcast/Major Media?

Check out this page to better understand the license options.

If you need to check into the details even further, here is the link to the license agreements

If you are still stumped, add either license theme set to your cart but do not check out yet and create an account with us (to hold the theme set temporarily from being licensed from another user). Then, please email us with your situation: support@sonomotif.com

Be sure to include all necessary info that might help us understand your specific use case and we’ll help you determine which license is right for you!

We reply to all emails within 1-2 business days.

I just purchased a Theme Set license but I still see it available on the homepage. I thought it was all mine!?

You’re absolutely correct- fear not

Although it takes 1-2 business days for our system to remove the theme from our library on the homepage, the product page where the license can be purchased gets removed instantly, meaning as soon as you purchase it, our system registers the product as out of stock and unavailable for purchase by anyone else. In other words, it will show up in our homepage player, but if you click through to purchase that particular theme set, it will not be available for purchase.

This is a minor limitation in our current system that we are working tirelessly to fix, but rest assured that nobody will be able to click through to purchase the phantom theme set after you’ve licensed it. Thank you for your understanding!

I need assistance.

Need to speak with a real human? So do we sometimes.

Reach out to support@sonomotif.com anytime- we’re happy to help!

In the meantime, you can temporarily reserve your desired theme set by adding it to your cart (either license works) and creating an account (without actually purchasing).

We aim to respond to every email within the hour, but due to occasional peaks in volume or time zone differences, we promise we’ll get back to you within 1-2 business days at the very latest.
